Courtney Cox, most likely known as Monica from FRIENDS, was born on June 15, 1964. She is an American and besides being an actress on screen she also played the roles of producer and director off-screen. Although she has done many sitcoms much of her recognition is due to her starring role in FRIENDS as Monica Geller, and Gale Weathers in Scream.
Courtney Cox can be seen starring with David Arquette in Scream. Their real lives are as much as their roles in Scream. What started as a casual relationship ended up with both of them tying the knot.
But there was so much air surrounding their relationship after they have separated from a successful 11-year relationship. Cox and Arquette, time and again, said it’s an ended story, and moved in with other people in their life. Years passed but still the number of people still Google if Cox and Arquette are still friends.
Was it love at first sight?
It was 1996; Cox and Arquette never met each other earlier. They both landed their roles in the film, Scream. While Arquette slew the role of dopey Deputy Dewey Riley, the heartthrob of millions of boys from FRIENDS, Monica, portrayed a ruthless reporter, Gale Weathers.
The two first met at the pre-shoot party of the film. Arquette has instantly fallen for the beauty but it took Cox sometime to reciprocate.
“I had to trick Cox to fall for me, She wasn’t charmed by my quirky ways at first”, says Arquette in an interview to Bang Media in 2009. Also when asked if it was love at first sight, Arquette said it was indeed love at first sight for him but not for Cox.
The wedding, 1999
After 2 years of relationship, Arquette finally proposed to Cox in 1998 and they tied the knot on June 12, 1999, in San Francisco. Events followed after marriage was not as supportive as they were before their marriage, they constantly kept trying for a baby but their luck constantly kept them failing. Cox even had a few miscarriages, but she told them that they bounce back quickly.
The couple’s perseverance paid off and they gave birth to a baby girl, Coco in 2004.
Why did it end?
Relationships are not cakewalks, Cox and Arquette soon started to experience it. She was no more attracted instead felt tired by his quirky ways. The couple got separated in 2010 after calling it an end to their 11 years of marriage.
Arquette, indirectly took the responsibility for their separation, when he is a radio show shed some light on their break up. He said that his lack of maturity took a toll on their 11-year long relationship. “It breaks my heart,” he said, in an interview to US Weekly. He even revealed that he asked Cox for getting back, but it is too late he adds.
The couple finally got a divorce in 2013.
Are they still friends?
It is tough to stay friends after a broken-up relationship, but the couple had broken all the norms and their marital issues didn’t let them from being good friends. The former couple does not maintain a close relationship by co-parenting their 15-year old daughter, Coco.
In 2012, talking to People, Cox admitted that she considers Arquette her best friend. She also says that he is her favorite person in the world.
