Jason Segel’s mysterious disappearance from Hollywood

Jason Segel rose to stardom with the smash hit of How I Met Your Mother. With this success, he transitioned from TV shows to movies. Some of the famous movies he has been featured in are Bad Teacher, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Knocked Up, and The Muppets. Jason played the comedy guy role in How I Met Your Mother for nine years. But since the show ended, the actor has kept a low profile for unknown reasons. In 2017, he moved to a non-Hollywood location. Does this all mean Jason is out of work? Or was he deliberately avoided by Hollywood?

Breakup gap:

Jason has started to attend an alcohol treatment program in 2013 after his breakup with actress Michelle Williams. Before his de-addiction program, Jason was photographed in nightclubs and intoxicated at various instants. While playing the role of David Foster Wallace, an alcoholic, Jason used his experience. He talked about the role in an interview with NPR in 2015 and said that the role allowed him to talk about his issues as well.

Major failure:

Everyone expected the movie, Sex Tape (2014) to be a hit. But it failed utterly particularly damaging Jason’s career. Jason did not just star in the movie but he was a co-scripter to it as well. It earned just 17/100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Such was the negative impact it made on his career.

Jason has been busy through How I Met Your Mother. He was a busy bee even during Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Five-year Engagement. But Sex Tape turned things around drastically for him in 2014. Since then his career graph has remained on the low side. Realizing the downturn of his career he admitted that he needs to find a sustainable model for his career.

Disgracing behaviour:

Premieres are the only time celebrities get some time to spend with their fans. While some celebrities use it to show off and gain more audiences others adopt an indifferent attitude towards their fans. Jason stood as an example of later category people. Jason was often awful and mean to his fans. If the celebrity is not liked by the fans for their behavior then they are obviously out of the game. That’s what happened with Jason as well.

Isolation:

Jason’s de-addiction program demanded him to stay away from his routine lifestyle. As a result, he had to leave Hollywood for a particular time. He moved to a small town. This pushed him into isolation from Hollywood life which prompted everyone to forget him. The new lifestyle has surely provided him peace and time but it also fuelled the media, makers, and producers to consider him out of the game.

Jason kept himself busy by writing young adult novels. In addition to that, Jason also ventured into creating web series and Anthology was one amongst them which was 10 episodes long. Also, a film of his is on sets which is set to hit the screens anytime soon in 2020.
